We wore our match shirts to Magic Kingdom and I surely hope I freaked some people out of their minds. The back was plastered in shooting company sponsors and he was wearing an Aimpoint hat.
your flippant remarks which you so adeptly sling

Here's my family, circa 1908 or thereabouts while they were all still living together in Marburg Upper left, you have Uncle Reinhardt. He's the one that knew this crazy painter from Linz. He told him, "Adolf, if you don't stop talking crazy like that, they're going to lock up you up." He later flipped him off while the painter was out parading around with his buddies and found himself on a list. He had to go hide in the Black Forest for 12 years. My uncle in the uniform towards the center died in the trenches. That's all I know. I don't know much about the baby either. The two ladies on the right are my aunts Mina and Marie. Marie was a swimming instructor. She lost her kneecap swimming in the Ohio River in full flood in March. I knew them only as old ladies. Mina once overturned their VW Beatle on a road in Florida. She came to with the car on top of her and Marie running around scooping up the oranges they'd knocked down. The old guy is Georg, my Great Grandpappy. He is still considered the patron saint of drinking in the town of Marburg, oldest college town in Europe. His portraits and busts are in the pubs. They were still writing newspaper articles about him back in the 80's. One story is that he had a running feud with the mayor. Georg went to the grand ball dressed as a woman and managed seduce the mayor before revealing his true identity. The little guy bottom left next to Momma is my grandfather, Henry. Henry spent the war being sent up to the line, and promptly being sent back because his head was too big to fit in a gas mask. He came to America in 1923 with his wife and my uncle Henry. He settled in Cincinnati. By 1926, the year my dad was born, he was a millionaire builder, building complete houses inside Music Hall for the Home Show. At one point around 1949 he had close to 50% of the new home starts in town. In 1938, Grandpa went back to Marburg with the family. Georg was still holding court in his favorite brewhaus, but he had squandered what was left of his fortunes buying drinks for the town. Grandpa set him up with a stipend so he could get 1 beer, 1 schnitzel and 1 cigar for the rest of his life. Reinhardt had come out of hiding after the SA were purged and started a typing school. The trail runs cold after that. Shortly after leaving Marburg, the family was harassed by the authorities. They put the hard-press on Grandad to stay in Germany and build military housing for the Wehrmacht. He turned them down and then hopped the first ship back home

Old pictures... yes... My sister and me in '63... back when kids seldom wore shoes except to school and church... even when it was 105 out, just run from shade to shade.

This is the beginning of what will be an outstanding, productive, and upwardly mobile family. L.W.
