Last Wednesday we were outside Cody, Wy and noticed an old road leading out of Wapiti Campground and decided to hike up it a ways. After driving thru the campground, we could see a bridge across the creek, so decided to drive up the road a ways before we started hiking.
At 1/2 mile from the bridge, I broke into a clearing, and it seemed there were grizzlies going everywhere. actually, there were just two, probably two year olds that had been feeding on something behind the juniper bush in the photos. One grizzly came back to the juniper and continued pawing around, giving us the evil eye every so often. I was kind of surprised because we were less than three lenghts of my Tundra from him. The other bear ran down the road, turned and came back and glared at us from over the brow of a hill. Then, he went to a fir tree and thrashed and bit the fir tree and rubbed up and down on that. The grizzly that stayed by the Juniper finally walked over and joined the other and they glared at us some more before sauntering down the road.
