Hello Anyone have any input on the value of an FN Sako 375H&H in vg to excellent original condition? Missing the front sight hood and the recoil pad is crushed due to standing on it for years but all original. Really nice piece of light walnut too. Sako style trigger with side safety and non hinged floorplate with protruding release button. Thanks for any help.

FN Mausers are in demand and .375H&H's are in demand. In my opinion, you've got a really great piece. In my neck of the woods it would probably go for $1200.00-$1500.00 without too much fuss.

I'd guess in the same range, certainly at least $1000.

Sako at one time used FN Mauser actions to build rifles.

Blue Book can often be behind the market. The Magnum Mauser (FN) Sako is $745 at 100% condition. The Sako action guns seem to list higher than the FN's. With interest in FN actions and the .375 H&H ctg. I'd say that was a bit low. I'd think a grand would be a good value. If it was mine, I'd not sell it for less. DF

Jericho said Sako used FN Mauser actions to make rifles. Then Dirtfarmer talked about "Sako action guns" listing higher than the FNs. I'm so confused.
I remember that some Browning Safari rifles had Mauser "long" extractors, and some had Sako "short" extractors. Is that verbiage correct? Did FN make both style actions for Browning rifles, or did Sako make some of the Brownings? We may be zeroing in on the truth here, but I'm still a ways from understanding.

BR,
Sako now makes all its own actions, short, med, and long. In the past, they used the FN action for their long action rifles and made their own short and medium actions. Browning used the long FN and medium Sako actions in their earlier guns. Sako actions were also used in other brands of rifles.
The Blue Book shows Sako rifles using FN actions listing for less than Sako rifles with the Sako L-61 long action. The L-61 Sako action was introduced in 1962, at which time Sako stopped using FN actions.
The Sako L-461 is a .223 length action and the L-579 is the medium, .308 length. That's a summary, as there were other designations during the evolution of these actions.

Here is one in 300 H&H I had for only a while. A family emergency forced it's sale. The FN Sakos are awfully nice. The 375 I have had a 3-position safety installed and has one standing, one folding, as did the 300 H&H.

I think it would be quite easy to get $1500 for it seeing what Whitworth's are going for.
