I got out got he first time this season Friday before last with my bow. I was planning on staying in stand from dawn till dusk or blood but with family coming into town I thought it smart to leave at 2:00 to avoid the dreaded POWS (Pissed Off Wife Syndrome). I have been bow hunting for 10 years with out even getting close to killing one, I had come to accept that I just wasn't very good at it but a couple of years ago I got serious and was insistent on increasing my skill level. Well about 9:00 a doe popped out of no where at 25 yards, for the first time ever I got to pick up my bow and begin to draw on an actual deer. Unfortunately the movement gave me away and she busted me. I was super excited because I had gotten closer than ever before. I sat for another five hours and then at 1:55 I hear deer coming up behind me i get turn and see three doe coming. One get off to the main trail, I get drawn, and all my hear in my head is 30 yard pin, and I release. The arrow strikes true and sounds like someone popped a balloon. I give her 30 minutes get out of the tree find my arrow and 50 yards later find my first bow kill after 10 years of trying. Thanks for reading.
Whatever a 7x57 can do a 270 can do better.
True fair chase is you in the woods buttnaked with nothing but your finger nails and teeth.
If you'e fixin' to put a hole in something, make it a hole to remember.

Way to go! Putting so much effort into it makes it all that much sweeter when it finally comes together.

Good job. Your story is very similar to my first bow kill.

COngrats. I'm still trying for my first with a bow. I'm dangerously close, something like 4 days, from shooting the snorting does with a rifle. THe young bucks seem to not have a care in the world, while the does snort and stomp from a ways away.
long before Rodriguez stole that goat.

congrats!
what would you say has been your biggest obstacle? ie, understanding deer movement, stand placement, getting enough hunting time, general lack of opportunity, spooking deer, etc.
