One would think the mule deer would be fairly active say Tuesday once the weather moves out.
Of course you might find one hunkered down tomorrow.
Looking forward to hearing how it goes!

If the snow is a good one, look for them to hole up till its over...then they'll be out!
If its not a good one, their routine won't change, they'll continue on through it.

Darrik,
Congratulations on the Elk!!!!
I'm happy for you and it sounds like you and LastRound are having a great time.
Good luck with the Mule Deer and don't be shy in posting any other pics you may have.

Here you go Harry... Dad took this pic Sunday. The elk came out of the timber above me slightly to the right in the pic. The smaller bull was to the far left in the pic. If you look close, you can see the gut pile above my head just in front of the bush... This next pic shows the valley below. There is a small creek by the cottonwoods. I assume the elk were coming for water. Just a few small pools in the creek, no running water. I got the knife you gave me bloody too. I snapped a pic before the work started and didn't take any more pics once the work began. I was busy and way too bloody. An elk is a lot bigger than deer and much more work...at least for the KY boy. The weather was nasty today and didn't put much effort in hunting. The wind is dying down and tomorrow looks promising. Maybe I'll have some snow pics to share if things go well tomorrow.

Congratulations- Looks like you've got many months of prime eating on the ground there . Could care less about hunting bulls but a cow elk hunt is something I've always wanted to experience . Have you hunted wapiti in your home state?

Never been drawn in KY. Applied every year we've had a drawing. Dad drew a cow tag and was successful in 2010. Got skunked on mule deer today. Cousins buddy killed a big bull and we spent several hours getting it out. I'm beat.....
