I've often wondered why the factories never offered a .300 Savage load with the 165-grain bullet, but I guess it's just not popular enough to warrant any new loads.
However, when looking through the Midway catalog today, I noticed that Double Tap ammo now supplies a .300 Savage load featuring Nosler's 165-grain Accu-Bond bullet.
The listed ballistics are 2,505 FPS out of a 22-inch barrel.
Keep your gun-hand ready and your eyes peeled.

I'd guess that you're right about any new loads for the .300 Savage cartridge... and that's a terrible shame since the .300 Savage always has been an excellent deer cartridge or even for larger game with the right bullet and a good marksman. The 165 Nosler Accu-Bond is an excellent hunting bullet.
I think that experienced reloaders could get a bit more muzzle velocity out of a 165 grain bullet, as well as fine accuracy, using that combination of components, but that weight bullet is more of a elk, black bear or moose load than what is needed for deer... even larger mule deer.

That's marketing for you, getting people to shell out for bonded bullets in a 2500 fps 300 Savage load.

I believe Barnum said, "You can fool some of the people all of the time, all of the people some of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all of the time."

P.T. Barnum said "There Is A Sucker Born Every Minute" and he was close but not totally accurate. What he should have said is "There is a SCREWBALL born every minute". There are lots of "suckers" around but one hell of a lot more "SCREWBALLS" !!!
