Look here:

http://www.walmart.com/search/searc...r%20motion%20flood%20light&_tt=solar motion

If your local Walmart doesn't carry them, just order and have them drop-shipped to your local store.

Have used one. It did not put out a lot of light but helped us find our way around outside at night. The dog would give it a real workout when he made his nightly rounds. We no longer use it.

Hi george,

It probably wouldnt take much to do alittle google research undef best solar motion detectors or such language. Could get a good idea of what everybody's using and which are best.

If you have porch light or back light leave it on all night, and until you can decide, try to set up a different sort of accidental noise maker like cans or put out a carpet full of nails by the windows. Hell it worked on sasquatch.
Door wedge alarms that sound when doors forced open, inks and that turn the skin multiple colors due to sweat and dont wash off on inside or outside sills, window, sliding door wedge or sliding locks, simple magnetic door alarms, etc, etc

Theres more than one way to stop a thief.

Good luck and stay safe.

Harbor Freight has a good 36 LED solar light on sale. I have one and plan to get more.

Get a free dog from the pound. Feed him. Tie him out at night. Problem solved.

Stick with a line voltage set up if you can. Solar lighting is not 100% reliable.

Have AC motion lights on driveway and front porch. May yet put them all the way around and we live in a "good" neighborhood.

I had them for years and they are real nice. It's best to keep them out of direct sunlight as the sensors will wear out. They are cheap enough that you can replace them every 3-4 years though. Mine had power from the house though.

When the AC power goes out at night, you'll wish you had some of those solar powered motion lights.

Just sayin'.

anybody got output specs on solar powered units?

I'd be worried about having enough wattage to really light things up (or conversely, enough stored power to trip more than a couple times)

I've got AC powered sensors on our raptor housing that light up the side yard like a football stadium laugh

Really depends on how much sun the panels will get. Also the ones I have had did not last much beyond a year. Better to hard wire a light, it will work when you need it.

Solar motion lights are good for hog hunting. I'm sure they'd be good for other huntin' too. Not sure about a good brand though.
