There's 2 dates they carve on your tombstone. Everyone knows what they mean. What's more important is time that is known as the little dash inbetween.

My father shortened the stock for me 50 years ago in 1963. My uncle gave it to my father in 1959. My uncle bought it new to protect the C.S. Holmes in 1939. The C.S. Holmes was demasted, used as a sea going barge, and sunk in WWII.

A high wall, circa (I'm told) 1900. At some point it was customized into a saddle ring carbine, in .45-90. It still shoots very well, and thoroughly hammers hogs...

Took these this morning, not the best but decent. Naturally I didn't notice the kiddo's toy in the background till later. First one is the 1963 Model 70 06 and second is the 1957 Model 70 270.
JOC was right. The 270 Winchester on a Model 70 is a great combination as is the 30/06 and 375 H&H

Awesome rifles buddy! Very nice "do it all's" right there. I'll bet they shoot as good as they look too...
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Maybe not my best Winchester photo but a good one down the barrel of my favorite 56' mod 70 target that wears a sporter stock.
