My Father-in-law smoked a stud 8pt yesterday evening in the North La piney woods. He said two nice bucks walked out in a shooting lane as the cold front blew in and he picked out the larger buck. 235lbs and 19.5" inside spread. Thanks fellas, I'll definitely give him the congrats. Nice!! What do they eat around there to get that big? Briars and acorns where few oaks are present. That aint a usual specimen by any means for around here.

I'll be headed a little bit south of Mansfield this weekend. Hopefully I'll get a crack at one like that. My two notable bucks out of there so far each came in at just under 200 pounds.
