A guy I work with has a 110 ser#3615. He would like to know when it was made? It is in 270. Also he wanted me to look at the stock which is badly cracked horizontally threw the bolt area, and yes you can flex the stock and the crack opens. also under the metal piece where the bolt is, cracked with the grain. The butt is cracked in numerous places, also through the tang. Is there somewhere where he can get a replacement stock? Thank's! 58gscott

That's an early one. First year production, 1958. Others will have to suggest stock options.

Boyd's makes replacement stocks for these, but they aren't anything like as svelt as the original ones. Try Gun Parts Corp.--they have had replacement Savage wood in the past.

I LIKE those early 110s; been trying to talk one of my buds out of a very early .243 for years. Rascal doesn't even hunt or shoot--just hangs onto it to frustrate me.....

Thanks for the info. Told him today at work what I found in tearing it down. He would like the original style stock if we can find one. Or a nice wood stock. Trying to keep him away from a synthetic. 58gscott

Take a look on gunbroker. I found a walnut one in pretty decent shape over there.

The early 110's are sweet. I have one made in 1960 and it has hand checkered walnut stock vs. later model with pressed checkering and birch wood. I would suggest having the stock duplicated by machine not very expensive, the checkering would be another thing" pricey".

Some had a monte carlo stock, others came without it on the early rifles. That's a nice one.

No monte carlo stock. Fireball2 that is a nice stock. Looked on Boyds site, but was unsure which one would work with the side bolt release. I'll try to find an original stock first.
