Well, last night was one for the books. Been taking my daughter, who turned 12 on the 15th of Oct, out once or twice a week since the early season, when she was fortunate enough to take a nice doe on the second day of the season. I have been taking her out of school @ 1:30 each week, been getting some looks from the front office(to hell with em!) cause my daughter can't keep her excitement to herself and I guess they figured out where she has been going. Must have been the right night because on the way out the door of the school we got a "good Luck" from the female principal (ahhhhh.......love living in a small town). So off to meet Will(shootstraight) and a 40 min ride later we were there. We set up in the blind about 3:20, and after the woods settled down for a bit, the squirrels started moving again. Will gave a few grunts and some turns on the primos can, and we waited for the action to begin. Pretty quiet for a while, and I reflected back at the last 4-5 sits where it never came together, either the deer coming to late or too far out of range. You see, the key to keeping a 12 yr old girl interested in hunting is seeing deer, but it wasn't long before she nudged me and whispered "deer". Will got the camera rolling, and the rest was a blur! The buck came from our right, and was shortly in view, and man was I pumped! A nice basket rack with a hell of a pig of a body! He came in, turned broadside, and she got on him and when she felt right, she let it rip. Perfect behind the front leg, the grim reaper and lumenok screamed right through the boilerroom! At the shot the buck ran 20 yds, stopped, and 30 seconds later he tipped over. Done. That quick. I looked at her and it was priceless! Teeth with braces smiling ear to ear! After some high 5's and a tear or two on my part, we made our way over to him, and it set in. All the hard work getting prepared, shooting, setting blinds, and my 12 yr old daughter was now part of a group i'm proud to belong to, a tradition passed on and hopefully a lifelong memory. Well, enough said, here she is! Will, thanks again brother! A freeze frame from the video!

Very cool that you spent the time hunting with your daughter and that she got one. You (and her) should be very proud.
Thanks for helping bring up the next generation of outdoorsman (or women).

Pink camo on the crossbow, good call Pink camo, looks weird doesn't it? With more and more female hunters there is more and more pink camo. Guess what, deer can't see pink but it stands out to people in the woods. So, she is safer wearing pink camo. http://missionarchery.com/8606/deer-vision-101/

My wife and I both say , "Good job"! And with a pink crossbow no less. Now I know why I never got a deer with my long bow, it wasn't PINK!
