I need to finish a build of an AR and need a suggestion on an upper. My thoughts were to get something I can shoot a lot, and possibly kill some varmints. I could spend time researching every component, but I just want to be done with it.

I see a bunch on the interwebs, they all look fine to me but I'm not into the details enough to know where some parts or makers suck.

Can you suggest a complete upper with these parameters:
$800-$1200
223
Match grade barrel finished from 20-24"
Flat top not A-2
Round hand guard (not tactial/picatinny)
Hopefully less than 6.5lbs

Wanted: Vintage Remington or Winchester hats, patches, shirts. PM me if you have something.

Rock River or Noveske, if you want to spend just a little more. JMHO

RRA would be hard to beat for dollar value and performance

Air gauged, factory lapped, cryo treated match barrels for less than $800 is damn near impossible to beat.

These are always a good way to go if you don't mind a heavy barrel.

Do you have first hand experience with both?. If so what one would be your first choice? and Why

Fulton Arms is little known but makes a top quality product. My son and I each have a "Predator" -24" SS match grade(probably "Criterion"). Ours can do on good days 3" @ 600yds. I also have an AR-10 which is new and little tried so far but 1/2" At 120 yds is routine. http://www.fulton-armory.com/fariflecal556mmupruniversalprecisionrifle-3-3-2-2-2.aspx You can also customize to a degree-just check the drop down menu.

surprised nobody suggested www.del-ton.com

You'll spend quite a bit less than $800.

I've purchased 4 of their complete kits with excellent results for all. Just assembled one yesterday in fact. The three previous can all shoot MOA with M855 milspec ammo.

They offer many different configurations and you can customize the specifics. They shipped my last one fast.

Here is the one I'm thinking about. $550
http://www.armalite.com/ItemForm.aspx?item=U15A4B&Category=bce7fa68-373e-4afc-b00e-63fe2c75d131

Maybe this one if you want a stainless steel barrel. $600
http://www.armalite.com/ItemForm.aspx?item=U15A4TB&Category=bce7fa68-373e-4afc-b00e-63fe2c75d131

Or this one. $540
http://www.rockriverarms.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=267

Or this one is stainless as well. $700
http://www.rockriverarms.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=270

Both companies have everything you want except for your choice of scope for less than what you were willing to spend.

you could look at redx as well. I've had good luck with them, and they are inexpensive
