Hello, folks
I might be coming into a Rem 722 in 244 caliber.
The one catch is that the extractor is broken, and all ive read is that they are very hard to find.
But there ive also read that there is a modification of installing a sako extractor.
Can anyone here recommend a smith that can do this modification.

Have a 'smith install a rivetted 700 extractor.

I've done three or four of them.

I can do the Sako for you, send me an email if interested.

Stay away from the Sako extractor... It does nothing positive, weakens the bolt head, costs quite a bit to do, and will not increase resale value or interest.

Riveted extractors work fine and will not cost nearly as much...

Thanks for the replies fellows. As far as having a riveted 700 extractor installed does anyone know of a smith I can send it to to have this done. I dont think there is one local that can do this.

Jkob Im not ruling the sako out, im not interested in collector value. I just want it to work. And like the rest of the world right now I need to save a dime here and there if I can. Can and will you do the 700 riveted extractor??

Really? Enumerate the positives versus the negatives and the costs, please.

And then explain how come the vast majority of 700 users almost never have extractor issues...

When I converted my 722 300 Sav to 22-250 it would drop the cases before they cleared the ejection port. The extractor was worn enough that the slightly smaller 22-250 case would slip out from the extractor.



I had a Sako extractor installed, about $100 dollars and it has worked perfectly ever since. It was the fix I needed. at the time I searched the net for a fix and there was no mention of putting in a riveted extractor. I'm very happy with what I have and it works perfect. This is my coyote gun and egg shoot rifle. I have it set up with a LVSF barrel and 24" bull barrel.
in an ADL stock.

I can install the rivited extractor for you. Nothing wrong with going with the Sako or AR15 extractor, but the 700 solution works fine and is far less expensive.

Sorry, I was reading the last line in the quote saying the Rem
700 was fine.
