Just looked up a couple of wind facts, annual average:
Average for WY is 12.9 mph Average for Boston is 12.3 mph Average for Oklahoma City is 12.2 mph Average for Atlanta is 9.1 mph
WY is the windiest state.

Where did you get this info..? I would have never guess that OKC was in the running... IMO, wind is pretty tolerable here...would have thought WY was windier...

Atlanta is a strong contender for the Anus of the Universe and I REALLY, REALLY hate Atlanta. Just not as much as Travis I hate about anywhere in Georgia.... but anywhere in Georgia is still better than anywhere in New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and most of New York State... in today's world, I'd take Wyoming over just about any spot east of the Mississippi...

Well, that's what makes the world go round... differences. I'd live nearly anywhere in Western MA, NW Connecticut, Northern NY before I'd live in Casper, WY. I couldn't fathom choosing to live in Casper if I were a Doctor...

I'm a gastroenterologist in Casper and just made the move out in June from VA. Haven't read all the replies but this was certainly the right choice for me. Happy to talk if you want to PM me a #.

It beats the [bleep] out of Atlanta.

The wind in Casper is a load of fun when shooting at the local range. But after an 18 month back and forth to Atlanta and surrounds, I too, would pick Casper.

My Grandson,(military) owns a house in Southern Georgia. When he was here for Elk season I asked him where he planned to live after he does his twenty. He said "right in the middle of Wyoming" I explained that Lysite was in the middle of Wyoming. He thinks he will shift his target a few miles.

I love Georgia but loathe Atlanta.
Take a week and visit Casper this winter. You'll see it at its worst. If the land scape and climate suit you, there are some great things about the area, as already stated.
The N Platte is an awesome fishery, lots of big game, lots of room and you get to make fun of the greenies from Colorado.
If you run into Travis and he offers you a Budweiser, save it to rinse your mouth with.

Lived in Casper through the 90's and enjoyed it over living in MN/ND. 40 below winters and hot humid winters took their toll on me in Minnesota. While all of our family lives around MLPS and we enjoy going back for a visit, we will never consider living there again. Sister city to Atlanta in the North
Because of the low humidity, the winters seemed warmer and the summers cooler. No fleas or ticks on the dogs, but plenty of suntan location on the kids at 5,000 ft. Stopped using mosquito spray too. You will enjoy the low humidity! You can open the windows in the evening to let the cool night air in and may have to close them because the temp drops into the 50's.
You can actually jay walk downtown on Center street at 6pm and not get run over because there aren't very many cars on the street. Ha
I think Casper is windy, but Cheyenne and Great Falls, MT are worse.
I moved to MT and have always wanted to move back to WY, maybe Buffalo or Cheyenne if my daughter ends up in Denver. The women may like Cheyenne better and you would be close to Denver if you need a road trip to a big city.
Can't wait to move my daughter from Atlanta to the West again. Anywhere on the front range from Great Falls to Colorado Springs.
Good luck
