Got a little time, and some gorgeous November weather yesterday... so I took Tanner with me out to bang on the new PCR 6.5x47 Lapua. Hey, it ain't no fun.... if the homies can't have some.....
Second date we tried a different restaurant (Varget vs. H4350)... it went well, bot not as well as the first. Date #2, Varget and Vapor trails
Back to the H4350, bumped it a grain to 42.5 and set them to 2.735" OAL. Two quick three shotters at 100 to zero and verify, Tanner's was larger (first time he's ever heard that)... though it only went .6"... I don't like to talk about how small mine is...
Here's T's last two at 500, I had an ID10T Camera Malfunction and missed the first 3.... they went 2.5"... and he took 1/2 MOA of left wind out for the last shot. Messing up the group, just so he could look cool and hit a 2" dot at 5 bills. Watch on the last shot, you can actually see light off the back of the bullet in flight.... sweet trace video.
Sweet JC Steel target....
After a Matt Prater-esque Field Goal through the bungee uprights with the first round due to a ranging error (750 vs. 685)... here's 5 at 685 yards. UP 15 MOA, Left 1.5-2 MOA... first 3 went 4"... wind is a fickle wench.
22" Gong, 4.5" orange center.... 5-rounds went 7.75"... not bad.
Then we turned it loose on some vermin.... courtesy of Tanner.... the last thing on this guy's mind.... was a 123 Amax from 330 yards...
A little teaser.... see the rest of the vids here:
Cool stuff. How do you like that M24 contour? what does the rifle weigh (sans bipod)?
I've recently picked up one of the Mark AR 4-12x scopes for a .308, and must say that I like both the glass and the turrets.
It's a chunk, but not like a chassis system gun. 11lbs sans bipod, the Talley/1" Leupold helps keep the weight down.
Can't say I'm suffisticated enough to know the difference between how an M24 contour shoots vs. any other.... but I know this rifle shoots. Tried some 130 Bergers/H4350 today.... looks like a good start.
You better pray to the God of Skinny Punks that this wind doesn't pick up......
