Well, gonna sell off my refinished E in 308. Funds pool is dry and gotta finance a 99G I just grabbed;).

Got an old offer from a store here, but thought I'd offer it up to anybody here looking for a shooter 308. Folks here told me it was from 1977, stock was refinished by me, receiver and barrel are in great shape except for missing some blue at the end of barrel and couple of very minor scratches.

Can send more pics..

$450 and I'll pick up shipping to the lower 48.

Well.. gonna drag it to another store that's silly enough to have a EG in 300 tagged as an F and priced at $895. Maybe they'll stay stupid and offer me a lot. If not, it'll still be up for sale tonight.

It does not have the front or rear sights on it, they were removed before I got the rifle. Front sight consists of a hole with a screw in it as compared to the rear sight which is an empty dovetail. I'm presuming the front sight came from the factory with a bead, or without a sight at all? The scope rings pictured here have been replaced with taller ones to allow mounting of a larger scope, though I have the lower rings in case somebody wants to put a Weaver or something back on it. I think there's a picture of it at savagela.org in my rat pack which should show the taller scope rings.

Bluing loss is on the crown where so many rifles have lost some. Bore is mirror bright with very good rifling.

I'll post any requested pics tonight when I get home.

Saddlering, I'm eager to lay hands on this G.. 1940G in 300 Savage in pretty darn good shape with Stith mounts and an unknown scope. Has sling studs, but that's fine cuz I'd feel weird owning something with no flaws;). Might have to become my hunter rifle this fall.. Was an impulse buy, I think I had an email to the seller within an hour of him posting it on an auction site, and after checking up on him and getting some pics I clicked that "Buy Now" button pretty darn fast;). Swearing off browsing the auction sites after this one... too tempting;).

Calhoun,
Sorry I just saw the post. I bought a 99C in 308 for my
nephew (already gave it to him), or I would jump on it!

It may be to late, but have you thought of posting in the
24 hour campfire Classifieds? 99's don't last to long over there!

Yup.. will do that this weekend. Not in any major hurry.. my first choice is to sell you you folks, second choice is to sell locally and not mess with shipping. Gonna check with a store that had offered me $400'ish previously tonight (He'd sell it for $500-$550). If he'll do anything greater than $400 I'll sell it, otherwise it'll be in the classifieds tomorrow.

I'd sell for the 400.
I like sure things.
I could take the 400$'s...buy something good...
and make way more than i could holding for 20 more dollars...
and I wouldn't have to wait for the buyer to inspect it...he already has.

I'd sell it here for $400 if somebody picked up shipping.. that $20 ain't important. Yes, there's a chance of a return, but if somebody here was looking for a shooter 308 I'd prefer to sell it here cuz of all the help I've gotten. Not that I'm offering something at bargain basement prices.. I'm asking for what I want. If it don't match with what somebody wants to pay, hey, that's fine and everybody stays happy.

And I'd give lots of pics and wouldn't expect a return, though I'd accept one if there was cause. It is what it is.. If it don't sell here and the store pulls back from anything resembling $400 then it'll go to the classifieds and then probably to gunsamerica. I'm in no hurry to sell..

I definitely DID want to check with the store that has the EG priced as an $800 F.. always that chance they'd offer me $500 plus thinking it was an F or an R;). Didn't work, they did identify it as an E but still said they'd flip it in a week at $450. That don't get me the $400 I want from it tho...

Thx all, take care...

Okay.. rather than shrink down photos and clutter up the board, here's a link to some pics. Let's see.. muzzle pic shows the loss of blue at the end, right receiver scratches aren't anywhere near as prominent as they are in the photo, and the buttplate was the one thing I couldn't refinish (as you can see).

Let me know of any questions..
