When the lever has started to move to the left, is there an easy way to tighten it up again? The barrels are tight on face, it just feels a little too easy to release. Or is this somthing that can only be done by an experienced smith adding metal somewhere?

If no answer here, I'd ask on the "Doublegun BBS" forum on www.doublegunshop.com/BBS. There are some serious "21 nuts" over there in case nobody here gives you an answer. I never even got close to owning a Winchester 21....financially challenged. (Now the 24, that I could tell you about.....).
Was Mike Armstrong. Got logged off; couldn't log back on. RE-registered my old call sign, Mesa. FNG. Again. Mike Armstrong

I have a 24 16ga mod/full made in 1958 with less than 100rds thru it!!!! unless your good at working on guns I'd let a "smith" work on that 21

Yes, it can be tightened and was designed for such longevity, though the work needs to be done by a pro. I'd suggest CSMC/Galazan.
