Did Remington quit making the 700 BDL LH? I looked at their website and can't find it. If so, when did they stop offering it?

A few years ago they phased out the left hand BDL and switched to the CDL style with the straight comb classic style stock. They made that in long and short actions including a .223 size bolt face but they quit making it in short actions about one or two years ago.

Looks like they quit making it in 2004. 2005 was the first year for a LH CDL.

Man, that definitely was a "few" years ago. Didn't realize it was that long ago - time sure flies.

Thanks for posting that.

Is the only difference between the CDL and BDL the stock and trigger?

CDL doesn't come with sights and the metal is more of a matte finish than the BDL's were.
I prefer the CDL stock design way more than the BDL, but that's just me.

OK - thanks. What is the difference then with the SPS other than the stock and finish? The SPS seems to not be as well finished to me.

SPS has the rough texture matte finish, not smooth like the CDL, and also comes with a plastic stock.
Mechanically they're the same animal. Same action, same trigger, same barrel.

Good to know. I guess I'll keep my Remington 700 BDL.

I'll have to shop the used market when I go to get one.

I'm also a fan of the lefty 700. The two below are a 700BDL in 7mm mag and a CDL in .223.

Pierce Engineering sells a 700 clone action that is probably better than the original. Of course, it'll cost you some change.
