So many people have it, I'm surprised Leupold can't offer it on a scope. Doesn't seem that unique anymore.

They are probably worried some tool will think it is made of "real" rain...as opposed to "real" diamonds.
These are my opinions, feel free to disagree.

Leupold did offer a Alumina Rain Kote screw on kit but as far as I know, they no longer do. Smart from a business standpoint to sell it as an add-on, but at $80 it wasn't cheap.

I really wish they had it as well - along with more mil-dot scope options. I should probably give the CDS a try but have always liked using mils when plinking/hunting.....

Just wondering, why wouldn't the rain-x or whatever it's called that you apply yourself or have put on your windshield at the quick oil change places work on a scope? My wife has it put on her windshield and it works great, their.

Rain-X will damage lense coatings.

You can order almost any of their scopes from the custom shop with the Mil-dot reticle. E

Rain-X will damage lense coatings. Seriously, can Rain-X harm the real diamonds Leupold uses in their bullet-proof exterior coating?

I was waiting for that! I don't know how well rainguard works for preventing fogging of the lenses?

If I'm having a banner year hunting I'll spend maybe 15-20 seconds looking through the scope whilst hunting. If I'm Ringman add 127 hours to that total.

I don't know how well rainguard works for preventing fogging of the lens If it works well I could've used it in sakatchewan 2 weeks ago when it was -10 Fahrenheit Damn moisture from my breath turned to ice on the lens in no time Nate, no coating would prevent ice on the lens. Especially with a box heater you were using in the blind. When you light up that heater in a blind at -10 below, any lens will fog up.

Some Burris models have Stormcoating. I have seen alighttransmissions test of Burris Four-X 3-12x56 with Stormcoating and it had only a lighttransmission at 500-550nm (twilight) of 76-79% .This model also have HiLume coating. Fullfield E1 without Stormcoating, but with HiLume had 92.4% I'am not sure why such a difference, but maybe Stormcoating could be the reason? Four-X is a more expensive model so there are no reason why the lighttransmission should be lower.

I got all excited after I shot my deer this year, and ended up breathing on the lens. It fogged immediately and I could not have taken a second shot if needed.
I don't think any coating is going to prevent that.
