Everyone at camp seemed to think my H&R break action 30-30 was odd the first year I used it. Wasn't so odd after I got a 10 point with it.

Always thought the AK was an odd piece to hunt with, but I've seen both NVA and rednecks do so.
I am..........disturbed.

I used to hunt small game with an original Winchester Low Wall in 32-20 WCF. I have always regretted selling off that rifle. Of course I was very young then and did not fully realize what I had.

Marlin "Goose Gun" - Bolt action 3" 12 ga with a 36" barrel. Belonged to my grandfather & now my father. Listened to so many stories of that gun growing up that I had to borrow it once on a spring gobbler hunt. I fired one shell to check the pattern on paper & one on a nice gobbler. That was plenty.... sucker kicks like a p'd off mule.

My Mauser and my 1899 Savage are the oldest guns I've seen in the woods.

In the 1970's, there was an old man her that used a 1911 Swiss Schmidt-Rubin that had VERY crudely been turned into a pump action rifle, and was shooting 308 in it...successfully!

Someone produced a rusty-azzed Taurus .38 special when we were having to tunnel rat after a holed up and wounded leopard.Turns out I ended up killing the cat with that gun pressed against its temple. Not my first choice of armament, but when you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with!

While white tail hunting in Eastern Oregon a few years back ran into an elderly gentleman carrying a flintlock that was at least five feet tall. Asked him how long he had been hunting in that area, he replied 34 years. I then asked how many deer he had got and he replied 30, it took me four years to figure out were the deer where. He had no tent just his bedroll and a camp fire. Cheers NC

I kind of like 7.5x55 Yep, the guy had cut the forearm off just forward of the mag, and fixed a bar that ran long the under side of th barrel a short distance, and brazed a bracket to the barrel. To that he had a brass collar that we 'round the bar, the back end of which had a bar formed a bit like an M14 action bar, one end again brazed to the bot handle, a screw going thru it at that point to make it strong enuff to work. he had run out of 7.5 ammo, would not pay for Norma stuff, so was shooting 308 'till the action finally locked up, for reasons that were pretty obvious.

Buddy brought a .408 Chey Tac Sniper Rifle & a Barrett .50 cal Semi-auto to the Ranch one weekend to shoot hogs with. The hogs weren't impressed, but I was. He had about $30K in both guns with the Included Night Vision Optics installed on both rifles. Fun stuff!
