When it is this cold out the beasties are safe from me!

During our moose hunt this year I got a severe case of the gout and could barely move around. Didn't even get out to hunt once. In spite of this I have no desire to go out in this kind of weather. My age is really starting to show. I am content to sit home and read about it or to watch a select few outdoor shows on tv.

I was with a buddy that shot one a week or so ago. It wasn't cold -- only -10*C, but the snow was deep enough to complicate the retrieval. The coldest I have actually shot a moose at was 35 below. HUGE cow! We were not cold by the time we dragged her the short distance to the closest road.

Dan,

What WMU do you hunt in?

I spend the most time in 13, my family has a camp a couple hours west of Thunder Bay which is in 15A , and hunt there also when we get tags. I'm heading out there this week when it warms up to a balmy -20. I also have put a fair amount of time hunting 12B in the late season but haven't been that way in a couple seasons.

I hunted deer with my brother in 13 one year, and I used to hunt in 16C when I was stationed in Armstrong. Is it 15A or B where there are over 1,000 tags?

Work was pretty much cancelled on Friday due to the cold/windchill. Saturday was -35 when Ieft to go hunting. Sat dark to dark hoping an old buck was hungry and would come in. Warmed up to -23 for the drive home.

15B and 21A have the most available tags. Big WMU's though.

Back in the 80's it used to be tough to draw a tag for 15A-was a ton of moose there.

15B & 21A is fairly easy to draw tags but with the down-turn in the forest industry access ain't what it used to be.

Balmy -28 at 1806hrs today. Inside temp was 12 degrees C at 1400hrs when I returned home to find front door wide open. A house guest had left at 0800 and neglected to assure the latch was caught. Said hous guest is not very welcome right now. Temp is up to 15 degrees C now. I still have my hat on,

Too funny. The house is up to temp now and the temper down to normal.
