Anybody running the new McMillan Hunter? I'm interested in forearm width and length. I would appreciate a measurement from the front action screw to the tip of the forearm and any pictures that you guys are willing to post showing a #3 or #4 contour resting in there. Gotta make a McMillan order here in the next few days and might include this pattern....Thanks!

I don't have pictures or measurements, but I have three McM McMillan Hunters inletted for Remington 700 SAs in a faux CDL-SF configuration, 24" stainless/fluted barrels, in 243, 257R, and 260. They are my favorite McM design for a standard weight rifle. I also have three of the Sako/Tikka Hunters, the same basic design; two inletted for Remington 700 SAs in a faux LVSF configuration and one inletted for a Husqvarna 8000 action for my 256 Newton. Now that McM is making them for Winchester 70s, I going to buy a couple inletted for the 70 WSSM Coyote and restock my 25 WSSM pdog rifles.

I have two, both Rem 700; a SA and LA. A BDL and ADL. My favorite by far.

I have some pics but no measurements. This is a Sako hunter which is darn near the exact same as the McM hunter inletted for an FN SPR action with a #4 Broughton. I have a "real" McM hunter in edge fill coming for another project one of these days. Ordered first of June.

Contours run the gamut,in their dimensioning...less is more. Short shanked(1/2") #3 Brux,in said handle. #4 Douglas contour dupe, wearing more shank. You didn't cite the chambering, but a modest shank and modest contour, bear the most fruit in said handle. Pun be intended. Roughly amidship, with a 1St Gen Ti and MR to left of frame and a Classic,Montucky Whizzum and Montucky 223 to the right. Did I mention, that less is more?!? Hint.

Thanks Stick, your visuals worked perfectly.....! This will go on my #3 contour 1" shanked 257 WBY. Mostly experimenting with a "new to me" pattern as that rifle is already proven....

XV,
Having a 257 Wby put together now with a Rock #4 in the McM NH. I think you'll like it with a 3.

I would like to go with a McMillan Hunter instead of the Remington hunter. If using a smaller barrel contour The small barrel looks kind of funny in the wide forearm of the Remington Hunter. Barrel is a #4 lilja this was a McMillan special I wanted something now. Will order what I want later. 280 Ackley.
