Doing some google searches on what might be replacement glass for my 243, the meopta meopro 3-9x42 seems to be highly thought of. I really like the BDC reticle they use. Their claims of 99.8% light transmission seems impressive. Anyone run one of these scopes? How do you guys like em and what would you compare it to on the market. Seems like a schit ton of optics for a modest price.

I have a Cabela's Euro, which is a Meopta, with the Cabelas logo. It's on par with the Zeiss glass that I have, very clear and bright. I don't think you will be disapointed.

It's terrific glass and a solid, durable scope. It's virtually the same in performance as the discontinued Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40. You have to spend quite a bit more to get any notable improvements in resolving power/resolution.
As to the 99.8 percent, keep in mind that is per lens surface.

For the sub $500 price point and performance level, anyone have any other recommendations I should consider?

Been reading reviews all weekend and the Meopta seems like a winner.

There is just no comparison between a Conquest and a Meopta. The latter is light years ahead.
A good principle to guide me through life: “This is all I have come to expect, standard lackluster performance. Trust nothing, believe no one and realize it will only get worse…”

Well that yardstick needs serious recalibrating. Compare them yourself.

Thanks Jorge. I'm pretty excited to get my paws on one. Good to see you think so highly of the meopro.

Are you an adjustment twister, or do you set and forget?

Thanks Jorge. I'm pretty excited to get my paws on one. Good to see you think so highly of the meopro. I'm a believer that actually compared stuff I own Z6s, Victory, VXIIIs and now MEOPROs. I just don't see me purchasing any other Euro from now on. Leupolds? always!

Are you an adjustment twister, or do you set and forget? Most certainly a set and forget guy. You'll be OK with a Meopro then. I have a 3-9x42 and it's clear, bright and has very easy going eye relief characteristics. I've tested it on a couple of very accurate 308's, and the adjustments were very good as far as going where they were supposed to, then staying there when left alone. My beef with them is the style of the adjustments, definitely not for a twister.
