Well, here's the ultimate compliment!
My girlfriend just saw your pic. Her first words were, "WOW, thats a pretty gun, can I get one of those?"

Nice peashooter! I spend hrs. at the range shooting my Mod. 700-30-06 LSS. Leup. 2.5X8X36 with Leup. rings and bases. If you reload and expect to use a 165 or 180 wt. bullet and anywhere near 2750 fps by using IMR 4350 or like propellent-I suggest you install a R3 recoil pad AND use a mag. recoil shoulder pad. My rifle has a wicked recoil! Dropping down to 125 gr. bullets will ease off on the pain factor. Had the trigger lightened by local gunsmith for $35. Very happy with an occasional one hole group at 100yds. Average grp. is about 1to 1 1/2 at 100 and about 1 1/2 to 2 in. at 200 yd. Enjoy your new rifle and good luck!

How much is $270 Canadian in US $$? FWIW, long action 700 laminated MR stocks seems to be a lot harder to find than the short action variety.

balance point is right on the front action screw
Ive shot it before when it was 6.3 lbs scoped, with 150s & 168s. Recoil wasnt *terrible*. I dont plan on sitting down and shooting my 30-06 all day anyways, I got a 223 for that
$270 canadian is about $225 US

Ouch! I've never paid that much for a 700 laminated MR stock, but would pay that much willingly for another 7 laminated mannlicher stock.

I didnt buy it because it was a smoking deal, I bought it because I wanted it and, like you said, rarely see Long Action 700 MR stocks for sale

I have 700 MRs in 7x57 and 30-06 and 700 Classics in 6.5x55 and 8x57 installed in the long action laminated MR stocks, but it took me about 2 years to come up with 4 of the danged things! I wish that more people would buy long action 700 LSS MRs, buy McM stocks for them, and dump the factory stocks on Ebay with $100 "buy now" options.

I've been guilty of sticking a few rifles in take-off TI's, but am coming back around to the laminated Mnt rifle stocks. They fit me better than any other out there including the CDL's. Plus it does feel more like wood, which isn't a bad thing in my book. I'll keep my .338-06 do-it-all hammer in synthetic though.

had it out today to the range, tried two loads in it first was 200 gr. Lapua Mega semi spitzers over H4350, did 2480 fps average and under 1" groups. Recoil wasnt too bad either Will go out again this week and try for 2550 fps. also tried some 168 gr. Nosler J4 match bullets over IMR 4064, did 2730 fps avg & good groups, around moa. both loads were with virgin Lapua brass. I let the barrel cool to cold between shots, or else accuracy spread to 1.5" or so I can live with the wait

load development looks done
last night three 168 TSX landed into .38" @ 100 yards over 58 grains H4350, producing 2832 fps avg. & extreme spread of 10 fps. Lapua once fired brass & Federal 210M.
time to go hunting
