Cwill: I own few dozen Remington 700 Rifles and MANY of them are worth more today than when I bought them.
I guess you could call me a "700 collector"?
BUT... the Remington folks have made about 6,000,000 (six million) of these to date and they are still pumping them out like mad.
In other words there are LOTS of these 700's and that diminishes somewhat their "collectability" in my estimation.
Having said that there are some calibers and Models of the 700 that are what I would consider "collectable".
First off the line of Remington 700 Classic Models are definitely worth more now than when they were new (if in new or like new condition!).
I have several of these Classics including those in 17 Remington, 221 Remington Fireball, 222 Remington (2), 223 Remington and 7mm Remington Magnum.
I am not sure why but these Classic Model 700's do have a smallish collector following and current prices for these in all their various calibers are, again, higher than when new.
I have let a couple of now "pricey" Classics slip through my fingers including ones in 22-250 Remington, 220 Swift, 257 Roberts and 25/06 Remington!
Yeah I wish I had those back.
Also plain old 700 BDL's in 222 Remington, 222 Remington Magnum and 17 Remington bring with them premium values.
I am not much of a "big bore" fan so I don't pay much attention to them when I come across them.
I wish I could be more help but my interest in the Model 700's has been rather long lived (having started in 1966) and that interest has been mainly as a utilitarian, handsome, safe and accurate Rifle more than for their collectability over the years.
I wonder if you searched "Remington 700 Collectors Clubs" if you would find anything?
Best of luck to you.
