so, what do they sell, I say no more purchases....

Looks like those are eight plants where INS (or I guess now it's ICE) should be on Tuesday morning auditing the company records and checking immigration status on all the workers.

"said it will close its Guymon, Oklahoma, pork plant" - it's just a wild guess, but I'd say they sell pork. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Time to call INS with an anonymous tip.

I know of a couple of small local restaurants that are shutting down for the day too.

Their employees are all legal, but such a high percentage are Hispanic and have said that they intend to go to the rallies that the owner has just decided it isn't worth it for that one day to try and run the business without that majority of the employees.

I don't think these are all illegals at the rallies. For whatever reason, the legal folks are also very involved. Around here, at least, it has become more an issue of Hispanic folks wanting to gain some respect and recognition for the important role they play in the local economy.

It may be different elsewhere, but here most are waiving American flags, saying that they are here and belong here.

I think the organizers of some of these things are turning it more and more into civil rights issues like the Black marches in the past - not just about immigration but also about respect for their place in society and wanting to be taken into consideration.

Don't get me wrong, I'm as frustrated as the next guy at folks who show up uninvited and then complain about what's for dinner. I'm just saying that I no longer think this is a legal versus illegal immigration issue. At least it's no longer that black and white around here. It is becoming more than that.

The protests that I have seen must not be the same ones that you are seeing. These ILLEGAL'S are walking around with Mexican flags and saying that they want equal rights, to me that is just plain wrong they have no rights. I say send INS or ICE or whatever over to the rallies and arrest anyone without the proper documentation. Send them packing and tell old Vincente Fox to CLEAN UP HIS ACT BEFORE WE COME DOWN THERE AND DO IT FOR HIM...........Blake

THEIR MEAT PROCESSORS ARE CONCERNED WITH BEEF (WHAT I RAISE) AND PORK, BUT ALSO HAVE INVESTMENTS WITH POULTRY PRODUCTS GALORE, INCLUDING A LOT OF YOUR CEREAL PRODUCTS, NOT JUST FOODS, BUT PLASTICS, PAINTS, AND BIO-PRODUCTS THAT MIGHT HAVE TIES WITH OTHER DIFFERENT MANUFACTURERS OF ALMOST ANYTHING.

ENOUGH OF THIS CRAP, BOYCOTT THE B#@*%RDS, I'LL GIVE THE BEEF AWAY IF I HAVE TOO!!!!

Some Hispanic employers and supervisors around here have told their employees that anyone having an unexcused absence on the day of the rally will be terminated.

Sounds perfectly reasonable to me.

Was that terminated as in FIRED, or was that terminated as in TERMINATED?

Either one would work.

BTW - yeah, I'm figuring that ICE or what every INS goes by these days ought to have a full tip-mail box of lists of these [bleep] to inspect next Monday.
