I put a G2 but stock on old style Contender to make it a carbine, I used a longer machine screw and it feels very solid. Has anyone done this, will it work?
I know everything I have read says they don't interchange.

The action opens/closes and operates fine and would fire, the buttstock does not have anything to do with that. I have found out that even though its fits over time the wood in the buttstoch would develop problems becauce of the fit.

I was in a gun shop a year or so ago and guy brought in a Contender with the wrong butt stock and it wouldn't fire reliably. I can't remember if it was a G2 with old stock or vice versa. The shop had a correct stock and tried it. Everything worked as intended. That was what I based my comment on.

Not without some serious modification. The stud on the frames I different length and angle from the Original Contender to the G2. I talked to a gunsmith one time about doing just this and with both frames to compare he said it could be done but would take a lot of work.
