I have some Fed 215's that vary by a 1/2 thousandth in diameter. Sample of 100, about 20% were to the high side, 75% to the low side and 5% were in between. Seems I have some slightly soft brass that I loaded a little hot that exposed the primer diameter variation. I measured some CCI primers and could not detect any significant variation and all were to the high side dimension of the Fed 215's.
Has anyone measured primers enough to see a consistent trend in which manufacturers build to the max dimension?
