I'm thinking about a longer tube on a 264 I have and wondering what twist rate I should go with for it.

match the twist to the bullet you want to use. I have a 1:8" my friend has a 1:9" They both shoot 140's good

I've had 1:9", 1:8.5" and 1:8" .264 Mags. the 1:9 wouldn't stabilize the 142 SMK but would shoot the 140 SMK fine. the 1:8.5" (Krieger) shot fine but I do like a twist 'surplus' so to speak. my latest three .264 barrels (two Liljas and a Brux) are all 1:8"

I had Pac-Nor put a 27 inch tube with 8 inch twist on my 264. I am liking it with 130 AB and 140 GK bullets. I am pretty sure it will work with 140 Scenars as well.

I had Pac-Nor put a 17 inch tube with 8 inch twist on my 264. I am liking it with 13 AB and 140 GK bullets. I am pretty sure it will work with 140 Scenars as well. is that 17 a typo? I have a pard with a .264 in a M70 FW (22" barrel). I've never wished for a slower twist. I may even go 1:7" next, just for giggles...

1 in 9 is a bit slow with long bullets, I like the 1 in 8 I have.

My M70 has a 1:9" so I'm going to hang around the 120-140 range. I'll leave the 156/160s for my 1:8" 6.5/06 AI.
