Swivel for sure. Also, I see you're from Tn. You'll need a good deal of height, too. Lots of grass to see over.
Sticks are great, too. Especially for the grass issue and predators.
I don't take many unsupported shots - for good reason.

66niteowl: All my bi-pods are now the swiveling models.
Took me a while but I found buyers for my 3 non-swiveling bi-pods and replaced them with swivelers.
Anyone that has even a modicum of field Hunting experience knows how much a bi-pod aids ones accuracy under Hunting conditions!
And the swiveling bi-pods add to the bi-pods usefulness afield.
They are a tad heavy out there on the front of our Rifles (and in a couple of cases on the front of my pistols!) but they are well worth it, and worth the extra effort toting them and attaching them.
I look with suspicion and some disdain on big game Hunters and predator Hunters who have no bi-pod or Rifle rest type systems.
They definitely ARE worth the extra expense.
YES... I like them.
Wouldn't go afield without them.

VarmintGuy I look with suspicion and disdain on those who advocate 17 hmr's as a coyote calling cartridge. Your stupid little rants on headshots do not count. There are plenty of hunting situations where a bipod can be an inpediment, one of which is coyote calling. This also screams you don't get out much fyi.

There are plenty of hunting situations where a bipod can be an inpediment, one of which is coyote calling.
That is worth repeating, and probably clarifying the intended targets of the OP. Varmints were mentioned, to me that's prairie dogs, crows, sparrows, and the occasional possum. Predators are another ballgame. The legs of a bipod tend to "stick" right where you set them - heaven help you if you are predator hunting and need to reposition a bit to one side or the other - like you will most likely have to do. A good set of sticks allows a lot of latitude and still provides a stable rest. A much better swivel w/o the fancy gadgets!
