I have a chance to trade into this. Wasn't looking for one of these but I do have a 45-70 Marlin I load for. What do you think. I can handle most recoil..... what about weight of over 4 pounds, 10" barrel, overall practicality?

I always thought they were cool, but a little over the top.

What are you trading away?

My experience of hunting with a handgun of that size/weight/power is that for the bulk and weight, I might as well just carry a lightweight rifle. Were I to hunt with a handgun again (which I intend to do) I would just do it with a more conventional sized revolver or pistol. 6" barrel, .45 Colt or .44mag, or less. Otherwise - give me a rifle.

But that's just me. If it intrigues you, go for it....assuming the trade makes sense. I've heard nothing bad about the BFR.

I've ended up with two Ruger Super Blackhawk Bisley Hunters, 7.5" in 44 mag. I was thinking of letting one go. Money wise I think I'd be +150 to $200 in the trade. The BFR would be a new toy more than anything else because I don't need it for hunting. I could load this any way I choose. If the guy goes for it I guess I will too. I will find out tomorrow.

Just make sure you don't trade away the best one! wink

Can't say I know much about the comparative values, but it doesn't sound like a bad trade.

Buddy had one. Fun to shoot, not bad on the recoil, and pretty accurate & seemed to be well built. If you like it, go for it. Not a bad trade. Like someone else mentioned, keep the Ruger Hunter Model that shoots the best. All mine are super accurate.
