For those that have em how has the tracking been on the Viper HS models? Currently looking at the 4-16x44 LR model.

I'm slowly becoming less and less impressed with my VX3/CDS in this department.

Thanks,

Brett

My 4-16x44 HSLR tracked very well.

Way too heavy for me though so it went away.

Yeah I'm not excited about 22 ounces either but repeatability is more important to me. Two of my vx3's have flat spots where it takes 2-3 clicks to get .25 moa, and one only returns to zero half the time. Love the leups for maintaining zero with a drop plex but have lost a little trust when spinning knobs.

Thanks for the info

I'm looking at the HS-T model. Nice turrets, and still a half a pound lighter than Nightforce, etc.

I'd probably ask formidilosisb about his experiences with Vortex stuff, especially with regards to turret twisting and reliability.

It is irrelevant what you think. What matters is the TRUTH.

Had one on 100yd paper, checking tracking...day before last and it was [bleep] PATHETIC. They are a [bleep] joke +P+.

There was no rhyme/reason to erector travel, when dialing ele alone and it got REAL ugly when adding windage. This on paper in calm conditions, shooting against a yardstick.

Run Forrest...run.

I've been around a chit ton of vortex, cant find one reason to like them even at their price point. Their mid range stuff is VX3 or SWFA price range, and their best stuff is in NF range.

In the first two pages of the optics sub forum on snipershide there are at least three threads about Vortex failures. It's good that their customer service is so good..... You'll need it.

I can confirm the HS is nothing special for travel up/down and repeats

I have an older Vortex Viper 6.5x 20x 50 with 1/4 min target dot that is stellar for travel

An older 3-9 Zeiss Conquest fitted with a "target knob" will blow even the HS out of the water in terms of [bleep] up.... in spite of what you hear proceed with caution on these erectors. I think JeffO made a chart for one of these.

For target work Sightron S3's work. and old T Weavers ain't bad. I have 16x SS that is perfect for travel, but the optics leave something on the table

The PST and Razor's work. I've used a few of them. They might not last like a NF, but they are good scopes. I can't say about the Viper HS, never having used one.

Ok well not what I wanted to hear but good to know. Will Leupy fix the issue if I send them back? Took me awhile to find the issue myself so do they replace internals or just adjust up and down a couple times and send it back? Would love to keep the leups if they'd track

Thanks again,

Brett
