What bullet do you have in mind? What powders do you currently have?

I use the Horn 139 BTSP with 55gr IMR4350. Not the fastest load out there, but they shoot flat enough and give 5/8" five shot groups in my Rem 700 Mountain rifle. I have also run 150 Partitions with 54gr with great results. A decent barrel should easily be sub-MOA with 4350/4831 class powders and 140/150 grain bullets. Just make sure you work up to max loads.

This myth is reiterated on the Campfire repeatedly!

I use the Alliant book load of 59 gr of RL-19 with 139/140 grain bullets for right at 3,000 FPS & under an inch accuracy.

Work up as usual, to that level.

RL-22 58 grains
IMR 4350 56 grains

Work up on each one.

RL22 and 154gr Hornady Interlocks shoot good in a Ruger boat paddle 280 Rem for my brother. Worked good on his bull caribou this year.
