Has anyone ever changed one of these? I have heard it is inexpensive and relatively easy to DIY. Anyone here ever changed one? How long should it take?

I've changed quite a few but not on a Jeep. Changing one is easy in itself. The problem is getting at it. Most of them have piles of stuff that has to be moved or removed to get the covers off. It's a DIY job for sure but make sure you can put it all back together correctly. Most of the cost of having it done is the labor of getting to it.

Well, finally got the damn thing off. The wiring harness at the back blocks a back bolt and a bracket that holds AC tubes blocks a piece at the front. Those two things were a big pain in the ass. I wonder what it's going to be like to get the cover back on while keeping the new gasket in place. 30 minutes? Damn, I wish.

I have changed mine. 1991 2.5L engine. Wasn't difficult. Hardest part was putting the valve cover back on without the gasket becoming displaced. Had to use RTV to hold it in place.

Completed the job this morning with no leaks! The trick was to get the wiring harness and the AC tube bracket off, and that didn't take long. That sped things up quite a bit. Definitely a DIY routine and saved me some coin.
