Very interesting. Great illustration of BC too. Water just hammers the momentum.

This guy goes to my church. He is a NASA engineer and does a lot of videos like that. Very worth watching.

Neat stuff. I'd like to see something like a 45-70 with a 550 grain slug put through the same exercise. Bet the slug goes a little further.

I'm not sure. If it doesn't fly any better in the air, doubt it will do better in water. Maybe the weight and energy will help? Would like to see some comparisons like that myself. If for nothing else, wonder what that powder charge and smoke would look like with black powder?

The multiple bubble collapse is what really surprised me.

I agree, doubt a big slug would go much further

I probably could have put a better thread title on this to better represent the subject material, but well thats the one that popped in my head

Once saw a video demo with something like a 300 Win shooting a line of water jugs and it went about 3 to 5 deep. A 45-70 did about 23.

The wife reported the Myth Busters shot high velocity rounds into a pool (testing the theory that one could escape shooint by going under) and had two to 3 feet of penetration. Slower handgun rounds were dangerous to greater depths.
