I am not set up to cast bullets so I have gotten some of RMR's plated 308 bullets and am going to work up some loads for cheaper plinking for my 30-30 and 30-06.
Anybody here have experience with plated bullets in rifle calibers? I know from the site that I need to keep velocity under 2000 fps and I am looking at cast bullet data for these kind of velocities, knowing that copper plated will run a little slower than lead for the same load. Just curious what some of you may have found using similar bullets.
Never used them in an '06, but yes on the 30-30. Cast loads is where you want to be, shoot and act essentially the same, IME. Modern Reloading Vol. 2 has a ton of cast info/reduced loads in the 30-06.

I'm a firm believer in the theory of " If it bleeds, I can kill it".
Are plated bullets a viable way to avoid the degradation in accuracy suffered by cast when shot in a barrel that has had jacketed shot in it in the same session?
I like using a plinker and small game load for my big game rifles, but cast and jacketed do not play well together.
