Deertracker's Christmas knives post got me to thinking about a few Case knives that I have. I always carry an old bone handled barlow Case that was my grandad's. I went downstairs and dug out the other case knives that were randomly in a box of pocket knives that I generally ignore. Rediscovered an old favorite cigar from '74 and a few others. All were once my grandad's. I have been looking at new ones on the web and considering buying one or two a year for my 13 year old to have/collect/carry. He loves knives as much as I do. Anyway, here is a pic of them. Love to see or hear what others carry, so post 'em up if you don't mind.

I've carried a full size Case Trapper with CV blades for many years.

I'm liking those trappers. Might have to get one, and one for the boy.

The yellow delrin trapper in CV may well be Case's best seller. The one in the pic is from 1986. I have a later model sitting NIB somewhere.
I see them for under $30 at times. Hard to go wrong......

And this stag handled one on top............ Would that knife down and on the left be a Gerber from early 80's by chance? If so I have the exact same model from around '82. Got it shortly after my Paul knife back then.

That's a beaut. Love the handle. I dug up another one from the back of a drawer. Had forgotten about this one: a 5 inch toothpick made between 1920-40. Unfortunately, the tip has been broken and reshaped. Otherwise it is in great working order.

I love Case knives, I've been collecting them all my life. I'd post a picture if I knew how.

I have a few, just using knives; I'm not a collector. One is a carbon steel single blade "Folding Hunter" that lives in my bird vest. It has a single 4" clip blade that sharpens with a couple of licks from a butcher's steel.
I use it for anything that my later Case "Medium Toothpick" pocket knife with yellow plastic scales can't handle, like cutting through turkey or pheasant leg joints. It has "Staminawood" scales that are a kind of walnut colored plywood, I think. I like the single blade because it is very slim and light for such a big knife. But they have only made the two-blade version recently; I got my one-blade job in the late 1960s.
And the "Toothpicks" are very handy pocket knives; you could do surgery with that long, skinny blade. Excellent for cleaning birds and fish and small game. A little intimidating for everyday/office carry, tho. For that I carry a little "Peanut" with red bone scales. Pretty!
For a fixed blade knife, I like a stag-scaled "Finn 5". A big knife in a light format. But since I hunt big game very little, it mostly sits in a drawer now....
I'll keep buying Case as long as it says USA.

For Christmas I received a Case Trapper with CV blades and the classic yellow scales. It sharpened up real well and has taken a place in my carry knife rotation.

These are my Case knives. They represent most of my knife collection. Those two black Sodbusters in the drawers are older than dirt. And thanks for the picture directions!

No problem. Nice looking collection. I'm trying to decide on handle material for a trapper.

That's the way I'm leaning. I can't keep anything looking new anyway, as I feel like I always have to use it to justify having it. I like the broken-in look anyway.
I have an older friend that bought a new pickup about 15 years ago. I was visiting him the day after he bought it and mentioned that I noticed he had already hauled something in it, since the bed was scratched/banged up. He said no, but when he got it home he took a hammer and a chain to the bed so he wouldn't worry about scratching it up later!
