Coffee addicts - don't read if you don't like gizmos or if you cut toothbrush handles in half.
You have been warned!
A friend of mine gave me one of these things for Christmas. I am amazed I never heard about it before. It's awesome and you can take it camping! I'd probably take it once camping just for kicks and then go back to just using instant. I certainly will use it at home or the office though. Lemme see... where is that Peet's House Blend 101? HEH HEH

I don't really care for Starbucks coffee in the store. Does the instant Via taste the same or similar? I'm more of a folgers guy, but the instant folgers packs are just so so IMO.
What happens when you get scared half to death...twice?
Via for me too. Not as good as fresh brewed but far and away better than most instant. I've used this to have fresh brewed but VIA is good enough not to dink around with coffee grounds and cleanup http://www.rei.com/product/726094/msr-mugmate-coffeetea-filter

Hard to beat Via for lightweight! I brew mine double strength for a bit more flavor. It's just "good enough," I wouldn't use it unless I'm in the backcountry!
I french press at home, but took mine out of my backpacking kit to save weight (plus it's a pain to clean in the backcountry). We also just got a Keurig - not too bad but the pods are pricey and not as good as the french press. It's good for when I want a cup and am feeling lazy!
I hate instant coffee but Via is definitely the exception for this guy.

Dude, you own the Jetboil... break down and buy the 1oz French Press for it... you can thank me later.
For me, it isn't about the weight of a French Press or Aero Press, it is more about the ease of clean-up. If I'm camped along lots of water, clean-up is no big deal, but often I have limited water near camp, so then Via gets the nod.
