I'm looking for a bolt stop kit for a Tikka T3 Lite stainless. I'm trying to load my 7mm-08 closer to the lands so I need a longer bolt stop. Brownell's is back ordered.

P,
FWIW, it's pretty easy (and a whole lot cheaper) to modify your mag which should easily get you to the lands with longer bullets. I did my .308 and can kiss with 155 Scenars--a pretty long bullet.
What bullet are you using and how far do you need to go to hit the lands?
It ain't what you don't know that makes you an idiot...it's what you know for certain, that just ain't so...

What I ended up doing w my 708 was using a real thin Dremel disc and following the existing angle on the bolt stop and just cutting it back some. I did buy a long action tika magazine rather than modify that. It works perfectly. I tacked the bolt stop to a piece of wood as a jig of sorts to secure it while i cut. I was hesitant at first to modify as I'm not much of a machinist and didn't want to screw it up, but it went quite well. The other option you are probably aware of is to buy the bolt stop kit from beretta which is much overpriced and for some strange reason includes 2 bolt stops for both short and long action. PM me if you would like to see some photos I took , before/after of the bolt stop modification. JT

What bullet are you using and how far do you need to go to hit the lands? I have a .30-06 so I can use that mag. I'm at 2.805" and the bullet hangs up at 2.815", which is really close to where I want to be. I'm using 140 gr Partitions. What about just swapping bolt stops between the 7mm-08 and the .30-06? Then swap back when I want to shoot the .30-06? I hadn't thought of that. P

It looks easy but I'd be afraid to eff it up. I sell drugs, I'm not that handy with power tools. P

yeah if you have both LA and SA tikkas you could just swap the bolt stops. They are a piece of cake to remove. Just two action screws then hold some tension on the bolt stop and pull out the pin w/ some pliers. Just make sure the little spring doesn't grow wings! JT

I have one backordered at Brownell's, but worth a bump if anyone has a kit to spare.
No slings or Pre-64 Winchesters, though.
