Hornady 150 SST at 2850fps out of my 30-06 has worked without fail on Louisiana whitetails for me. The main reason I stick with this bullet is that it gives such great accuracy in this particular rifle, and hitting the kill zone is the first order of business. We have 300-400 yard shots fairly often. That being said, the SST is not the best hog bullet on our large Russian boar. They seldom fall DRT and often don't leave a blood trail (no exit), but we usually find 'em dead within 100 yards. Accubond might be a good combination (tougher) deer/boar bullet.

Old style Speer Grand Slam.

Since they're getting hard to find I have been using accubonds on deer sized critters and really like them so far, though they can really bloodshot stuff up.

In 270 it is 130 gr partitions, or winchester power points. In 303 british it is the old dominion 180 gr roundnose. Which is rather soft. An older friend who at the time was head armourer for the RCMP said in his opinion many of the bullets of the time were too hard for deer. I have recovered a 303 180 gr remington corlock, that barely opened at all shot at 125 yards, hence my use of the dominion 180 gr roundnose which always opened, but never exploded.

I guess by shear numbers it would be the interlock. I find them as components to perform well, well priced, and readily available. They shoot well in my 7 wsm (154gn,162gn), 308 (150gn), and 35 whelen (200gn).

I also shoot 150gn NBT's in my 7wsm and 150 gn NBT's in my 308. TTSX's in my 300wm. Among others...

But every deer I have ever connected with, regardless of bullet, factory fodder or reloads, has died and been reclaimed. 90% or so were dead right there. I don't shoot extreme ranges though...

Easy choice. Nosler Partition.

Ive never owned a rifle that they didnt shoot well in. I cannot say that for Speer, hornady, swift bullet's. The Accubonds are a close second.

But nothing is as reliable and as predictable as a well placed Partition.

Tell me why you like bullets that make a mess of your deer. I honestly just don't get it. I have shot deer with just about everything, and simply cannot condone/recommend using them.

I still use jacketed SPs and TSXs often. Have used a lot of Partitions. They all work very well. They do not make a mess of my deer. Why do you prefer BTs?

Depending on which rifle, Speer Hot Cor, Hornady SP, Sierra Pro-Hunter, or factory Federal blue box, and Fusions.

These open quick, spin off some bits of lead, and usually exit.

They've been easy to find accurate loads for, don't cost a mint, and have given excellent terminal performance at the speeds I shoot them. I haven't found them to make a mess of my deer, but I'm not launching them out of my 300 Weatherby either.

Depends on the rifle. Out of my saum I use either TTSX or partitions. I have yet to find a favorite out of my 243, I need to kill some more deer with it before I make a decision.

Older, softer versions? Inappropriate choice of particular BT? Very high impact velocity?

The 150 gr. .308" I put diagonally through a 200 pound buck's chest with a shoulder exit didn't blow up on the surface, and neither did the 95 gr. .243" that drilled through a 250+ pound hog.

Must be using some of the thin jacketed older original NBT. We have run the 7mm 120 grain NBT, The .243 95 grain, and .308 165 grain NBT thru several deer at impact velocities between 2900 and 3200 fps.

We have yet to have one stay inside a whitetail or do anything but break bones, destroy deer plumbing and leave about a one inch or so exit hole on the off side.
