I typically carry my J Frame in my front pocket in a pocket holster. When I want to carry more it's my SW MP9c. Small, relatively light weight and I shoot it very well. Only thing is I don't have an @ss. No matter what belt I wear, quality dress belt, thick rigid casual belt, I'm always having to pull up my belt/pants. I always wear it at 2 or 3 O'clock position so the weight isn't even at the back. Also doesn't matter whether its an in or outside of pants holster.
Long intro, short question - does a true holster belt help for someone without an @ss? I don't mind dropping the coin if it works.
If it isn't really going to make a difference, I'll likely just go belt and suspenders as I don't typically tuck my shirt in anyway when wearing the 9mm. Will just wear suspenders over my tee shirt under my flannel etc.
Thanks in advance.

A belt is a belt in the functionality. A gun belt is generally just designed to be more rigid, so that it doesn't twist under the weight, or sag at the attachment points where your holster rides.

I've got that NO-ASS-AT-ALL condition as well, so I feel your pain. Complicate that with an extra bulge above the belt buckle and tugging at your pants is just a fact of life. As for belts, you might try to go wider and not just stiffer. My 1.5 to 1.75 belts carry MUCH better than the narrower dedicated gun belts I own. And as for suspender wear, they aren't part of my generational paradigm. But after using them when wearing heavy hunting and motorcycle protective gear I understand why they were invented and used for so long ..... they work! Belts are as useless as tits on a boar for holding up your pants compared to a decent set of suspenders and I so wish wearing them was the norm again. I buy mine here, BTW: http://www.suspenders.com/

The wilderness 5 stitch. Infinitely adjustable and rigid without being uncomfortable. Cinch it tight and me later.

Regardless of whether a belt will hold up your pants, it is always better to have your holstered gun hanging on a good gun-belt. If you still need suspenders, it will all ride better with both. Milt Sparks Holsters makes one of the best belts. Pre-contoured to fit the body - not just a straight strip of leather as most make. Worth the $, even if you still have to use gallusses.

I wear a crossbreed. With a kydex stiffener sewn between the leather layers
Works really well no rolling or twisting and supports the weight well

I see nothing on their website that says anything about a kydex stiffener as either standard or as an option???????? Can you provide a link? MM

I don't know about Crossbreed, but Aker sews in a polymer stiffener and lasts forever. http://akerleather.com/off-duty-belts/off-duty-concealed-carry-gunbelt.html

What FreeMe said is dead on. I've spent a small fortune on holsters and belts. When is comes to belts, due to their curve shape which allows more of the leather to contact the body, they carry the weight of a gun alot better than anything else. The other thing is the belt needs to be pretty snug when carrying a gun. E

I am not one of those people who only buys Milt Sparks holsters, but I have not found a better belt than one made by Sparks.

I'm very satisfied with my Bullhide brand belt. It's single layer but very thick. Really holds a pistol in place.

I should add that my Aker's are about 20 years old and have a metal stiffener rather than the current polymer one. Haven't looked at a new one it years, just keep using the old ones.
