My 1B Hornet has a 1-14 twist.

In case anyone's wondering, even a slow 16 twist will stabilize the 45 gr TSX, it does it with fine accuracy in my M-70.

Try the 40 grain VMax with AA1680 and CCI Small Rifle primers.

14 grs.? Jeez Nosler #7 has 11 grs. Lil Gun as the max, down from 13 gr in the #6 manual. Something is pretty odd here.

I will admit to having to seat the 45 gr tsx's in two separate stages to get them down to the proper col to function in my rifle, haven't had any over pressure signs.

Pockets remain tight and extraction and ejection are butter smooth.

I believe most load data manuals today are getting more conservative each year.

I suspect Nosler's revision is due to how much powder can fit in a case under some of their new bullets, not pressure.

Look at Hodgdon's website and see how little pressure L'il Gun produces versus faster-burning powders in the Hornet. I sincerely doubt Gunner's load is dangerous. The bigger problem is getting that much powder in the case, but no doubt it can be done with necked-sized cases.

That sounds very plausible. I'm still battling winter and working on getter something to work. The PRVI stuff (45grs) two days ago was about 1 3/4" for 5 shots. Mine are embarrassing - but at least I can only get better from here.
I should note that the PRVI ammo went 2582fps and my mess clocked in at 3045fps with 11 grs. LG.

My new test is to back down to 10 grs and try 3 different primers. But a couple of local guys already warned me - the Hornet can break your heart.

Bigwhoop: I bought my Ruger #1-B in 22 Hornet back in February of 1997 - for the next several years I tried almost EVERYTHING to get it under M.O.A.!
With NO luck.
If that Rifle hadn't had such beautiful wood on it I would have sold it long ago.
Then about 10 years ago another Hornet shooter on this site recommended to me that I obtain some Remington nickel plated 22 Hornet brass and in conjunction with 35 grain Hornady V-Max bullets he was certain I would see improved accuracy!
I was NOT certain, but went about that task and low and behold the first 5 shot group I fired at 100 yards with his "recommended loads" I obtained a .778" group - I almost cried.
So I allowed the Hornet #1-B to stay in my safe.
Its twin a 218 Bee #1-B with the same scope (Leupold 6x18 variable) mounted on it has shot rather well from day one!
I think this difference in accuracy has something to do with the thin long necked rimmed case of the Hornets often causing hard to obtain accuracy???
If worse comes to worse contact me and I will mail you ten Remington nickel plated 22 Hornet cases for your load development.
Best of luck to you!
