Baldwin County, Alabama is very nice and has one of the best beaches in the country. Do some research on Fairhope.

Seems to be a lot of people originally from New Jersey living here. Good people. Check it out. Taxes are pretty low. Low unemployment. Real estate prices aren't too bad. Weather is pretty decent generally. Be a good place for someone in the landscaping business also.

western PA. i grew up here and moved away for almost 20 years. lived all over the country and the far east. i lived in jersey and philly area too so i know where you're coming from. i highly recommend western pa. taxes are reasonable, (for the east) lots of outdoor recreation, low home prices, and good schools for the most part. job situation is pretty good, depending on your skills too. I would have to agree. I've lived in northwestern PA for most of my life (been some other places too) and this is where I want be.

I grew up in eastern Pa, Susquehanna County, That is nice also. Pretty cheap prices for land as long as you aren't looking to get the mineral rights. I live in Va. Beach county now and it is pretty nice. Pretty close to bay and ocean. Not to far from Hatteras N.C. Some good hunting if you put some time in. Also Chesapeake county is nice.

Wyoming.
Great state and you can use your trucks tire chains as wind socks during the warmer months.

North central PA ain't too bad either. Lots of ground to hunt. A lot less gun laws than NJ. I worked in NJ but lived in PA for many years. Once I no longer worked in NJ, I moved to "upstate" PA.

South Dakota: particularly Brookings or Sioux Falls. Perhaps Rapid City as well
North Dakota: Fargo or Grand Forks
Whyoming
Colorado
Minnesota: Bemidji, Mankato, or Moorehead. Yes, yes, more-head. Grow up
Alaska: Anchorage, eagle river, or wasilla.
I'd say defining your cost-of-living, preferred political preferences, desired field of employment, education for kids high school and college etc, and hunting/fishing priorities should really help this decision come into focus. Also be sure to factor in your family, as in when you might visit them or where they live in relation to you.

Based on my visits there, I've found that not to be true. Though, not for the lack of trying.
