I aquired a 16.5" T/C Contender barrel that was rechambered from .223 to .22-250 (makes no sense why one would do that, but for $50.00 its worth my time and efforts).
I have been researching load development as the high pressures and potentials of S.E.E. are of concern in the Contender frame.
At the current time, I have decided on Trail Boss Powder and determined my case capacity is 14.2 grains (to the top). Im assuming that a 70% reduction from that would be a good starting point in the area of 9.5 grains. Bullet weight isnt much of a concern to me.
I am hoping that someone has had experience with the reduced loadings in the contender and could share some knowledge.
And I know before someone says it, "Why download a .22-250 to .22 Mag or Hornet levels instead of buying a barrel chambered in one of them". Its because I like to dabble with things a little out of the norm and the price was way perfect.

Try 17.5 to 25 grains of 4198, or Rl 7...

will work with bullet weights from 40 to 70 grains

I've had assorted calibers that walk the pressure line in the Contender, including the .250/3000, 300savage, 6mmBR, 7mmBR, and a few others.

with .473 case heads such as the 22-250, keep pressure below 35K PSI and you are likely to have no problems with frame stretch.

go much past that, and you eventually have to scrap that one for parts.
