Dad's taking their kids into the field to kill stuff is where it's at. Good job, Dad . . . . . . . and boys!

Nice! That is a grand event you related and I agree that nothing compares to having your own youngsters involved in these types of things. Absolutely the best, I agree.

Thanks Kenneth! Good on you for taking the boys turkey and deer hunting!

I just gave the boys the 270's, so I don't have an elk gun at the moment.......I might just buy a good video camera and hunt with that! I will let the boys do the dirty work and I will film it all:-) Actually, I am in the process of building a new gun as we speak, but I might just have to add a video camera to the list.

Tell 'em congrats from me, too.
However, be aware that a 270 can't kill an elk...except for the doz or so that I've shot with one. In my experience, it's rare for one to exit, though. I usually found the bullets under the hide on the far side.

Wow man that is absolutely incredible!

I am totally with you... Taking my 12 & 9 yo sons to Wyoming this fall where the eldest will have a pronghorn buck tag & the youngest a varmint rifle. We're UBBER GEEKED.

You're so right... They are the greatest of all hunts!

There truly are great folks on this forum that understand the important things in life!! I am still walking on clouds, so I had to share the boy's hunt with you all.

I've actually been a long time member on this forum but have been away for a long time, so its nice to be back to the campfire.

As a matter of fact, I had a nice lunch with Yukoner in Denver about 6 or 7 years ago! Its nice to hear from you and I hope you are doing well!

Regards,
Ted

I remember that visit! Good to see you back here again.

Great story. 2 kids, 2 270s, 2 shots, 2 elk.

PP,
Thanks for posting the story. I can't imagine how exhausted everyone must have been by the time all the work was done on two elk, but what a blessing for a father to have both his sons with him on a day spent hunting like this one.

Congratulations to your young men, and here's hoping that they are able to hunt together for many years to come.
