Scored a 700LH FS recently. .30-06...
This gun was talked about here at one time or another. It was listed as a KS on GB but was actually an FS.

Turned out to be a real peach of an original rifle, 99% and I bought it reasonable. Built Nov. 1987.
And I can see why guys here rave about these older FS models. This rifle has a lot of the KS DNA, but the Browns fiberglass stock has a cleaner, lighter feel to it.
Handles very fast, and light.
Per the original owner this rifle had 40 rounds through it (it looks like it) and he claims 1/2 moa w/ 150s. We shall see.
Removed the iron sights for another day and popped on a 2.5-8X32 Zeiss...

You're gonna like that one. I love mine. Needs a cerakote job, but otherwise a perfect rifle.

Nice pick up broomd. That looks like a KS, only with sights.

I like the looks of that rifle. Did you get a chance to weigh it? I assume the barrel is 22 inches ?

I've got one in .30-06 and another in .270 Win. The .30-06 has taken a boxcar load of game in the U.S. and Africa. Both of mine have a leaf pattern 'camo'.

Looks like a nice rifle, Frank. I'd like to stumble into one someday but for now I'll just admire yours!

Anybody know what years they produced those rifles??

Couple of answers...(I only know this due to some search engine research before I bought this gun) FS production was 1987 to 1989.
The KS, RS, FS and AS were all made right around there. The only custom shop gun of the bunch was the KS. But all are regarded as fantastic shooters with great factory barrels.
The nomenclature refers to the stock composition.
The KS safari continued in production after these other models all ended. The FS ceased due to the fact that they were expensive to produce, Remington was making very little profit on them with an msrp of about $615.
The RS was regarded as a great shooter but an anchor due to the heavy polyester
"rynite" stock, it faired poorly in sales comparatively.
This FS weighs right at 6lbs 5oz. without sights. And yes, barrel is 22 inches--about a #2 contour I'd guess.

Didn't they make a camo version of that in FS or RS or both also?

Nice rifle Frank, I picked up one exactly like yours but in 270 and put the same scope as yours on mine. Mine is a good shooter as well.

Larry, an fyi, Jim in Idaho has an FS in '06 on the GB...looks to be a very fine rifle as well....he and I were very close on price when he posted it here.

While this one is maybe a bit cleaner, I hope it shoots as well as his....

I've been watching Jim's on GB. I really don't need one with a 7-08 and a 300wsm (both NULA) but I'd sure like one....

I'm looking forward to your range reports.

Every FS I have seen has had iron sights straight from Remington.
And I believe that the front sights were all hooded, mine is/was.

Actually two screws in front sight, but yes, one screw under the blade insert that gets punched out/away.
