Okay here's the deal I'm new to reloading and I can't seem to find any components that everyone says to buy so I got what I could find . Here it is now . I will be shooting a Tikka T3 22-250. What I have is 50 & 53 grain v max bullets rem. 9 1/2 primers and imr 4064 powder. What load should I use and is this even worth messing with?

The 53 V Max will not stabilize in a one in 14 twist, so the 50 V Max is your choice... and when it comes to powder, there isn't a thing in the world wrong with 4064....
Although other powders might beat its top velocity potential by 50 to 100 fps at most...its accuracy potential is superb...
if your Tikka has a one in 12 twist or quicker, then the 53 VMax will work just fine...I am standardizing several of my 223 varmint rigs on it...
I have a fast twist, 1 in 7, 22.250 with a Pac Nor barrel on it.. 4064, IMR 4895, 3031, RL 15 or AR Comp are the first powders I would reach for with the 53 grain V Max...
Good luck on your quest....

I am surprised to hear that 53gr VMax won't stabilize in a 14 twist as mine shoots 55 grainers (both VMax and BT)well, at least to 200 yards. I also have had great experience with 4064 but moved to Varget mostly because it meters easier through a narrow drop tube. Would not hesitate to use 4064 again though if I needed to.

My rifle prefers 4064 to almost all other powders. I use a 55gr hornady sp. over 35.5 grains for most things and a 63gr sierra smp over 34.7 grains for deer and get great accuracy and good speeds

I have tried more than a few loads over the years,(44) with my Early Ruger #1, non-prefix,and have always gone back to 52-53 grain Match bullets (they don't call 'em "Match" fer nothin') over 35.5 of 4064 since it gives great accuracy & over 3600 fps.
If your gun disappoints you in the accuracy Dept, with 4064, try 33 gr of 3031, which was the accuracy test load at the Remington Custom Shop in Ilion,NY.

My 14 twist Remington will shoot 52 grain A-Max bullets pretty darn well. However I use CFE-223 powder in my 22-250.

I used to shoot IMR 4064 in my 1:14 twist Savage 22-250 years ago before I bought a chronograph. I ended up loading 35.2 grains of the powder under 55-grain V-Max bullets getting around 3600 fps. I shot the barrel out of that rifle with that load getting bug-hole accuracy. My more recent rifles like AA2460 and W760, but if you can find it CFE 223 gives the best velocity and accuracy. However, I have moved to 50-grain bullets for their faster velocities since I do not shoot targets far enough to take advantage of the energy the extra 5 grains gives you. A load of 39.5 grains of CFE 223 and a 50-grain V-Max gives my stock Remington 22-250 4000+ fps and 0.5 groups.

35 grains of 4064 and a 55 gr. Serria HPBT, was my std. load for years.. Very accurate, but as some stated about 3600 fs. Now I use 50 gr. and usually H4895 or I 3031...

4000+ is great! I am only getting 3872 fps with the 52 grain Amax and 39 grains of CFE 223. 40 grains under a Sierra 45 grain pill gives me 3919 fps. Still the accuracy is there and that is what I am after most of all.
