This is not a usual find in my wanderings so I post it here just in case someone is looking for one of these.
I was in a small gun shop in South Carolina the other day and he had two Savage model 340 rifles chambered in .222. They are used but good looking and have a great bore.
Just in case someone is looking for one or these if you PM me I will give you the location.

I've never owned one, but they do have a reputation for accuracy.

I bought one for my buddy John and we found a 55 grain bullet load that shoots GREAT! Worse thing is the trigger, but it's not too bad. For $300 it's a nice little rifle for sure!

They're fairly common here in Pa. I see them every do often. I have one in 22 Hornet, model 322. Same as a 340. Most of the time, they shoot great.

Alrighty then!

I have the Stevens 325 in 30-30. The 325 is the predecessor to the 340. I find it to be a very accurate rifle.
