Well, looked on Gun broker and Guns international, the prices for a used .300 H&H was more than I wanted to pay. Found a cheap Pre-'64 for $1350 and that one was re-stocked. From there is the price went up. There was a Remington 721(?) that is just "ugly" and just could not bring myself spending money on those.

721's might not be the Kate Upton of rifles, but damn do they work. I have one in .270

Agreed on Kate Upton, and if a guy could find a Rem700 Classic in the .300 H&H that would be skookum.
We have a couple 722s in the house, both real shooters.but borderline in the looks dept.

Woody, in both instances, one cannot improve upon perfection. Only one other cartridge falls into that category, and that would be the .375 H&H Not set in my ways, just suffering under the burden of being right all the time.

Yeah, they accurate and do the job, they just do not appeal to me. They beat the newer Savage rifles in the "Functional but Fugly" race......

Well, although it's not an .300 H&H,still going to use it. Something tells me it'll still kill an deer, elk or whatever even without the H&H stamp on it. Have a 6x42mm Leupold just waiting for it.

One more bit of bad news and I'm not getting out of bed in the morning. Ingwe, you couldn't talk him out of it?

Elk, maybe you should have begged Geedubya to part with this one.

I did a lot of shooting and killing of game with a .300 Win. But then I realized the error of my ways, and got an H&H.
