I am four months from the dreaded medicare. I keep getting stacks of mail telling me I have to spend a bunch of money and supplements. I am in the VA system with a service connected disability.
What do I have to do? I know the feds will take medicare some money out of my SS but will the VA cover the supplements or do I have to find an insurance to cover my needs?

Your best bet is to find a insurance broker that handles Medicare to figure it all out. That's what I did.

The VA has a website that explains how and where to enroll in the VA health care system. It talks about benefits and all that sort of stuff. Do it NOW, don't wait! Then go to Military.com and sign up for the latest information on whats going on in the veterans world. I'm sure that the State of Washington also has a state veterans department.

Go with 10fingers advice and find out from the horse's mouth. I can't say for you but I know I have to apply for Medicare or I lose my Tricare coverage (not VA).
